I would like to think Mom was chosen for the article below because she was the prettiest.
When Buddie was a child, about 10 years, he sliced his left thumb when chopping wood with an axe. His mother contacted her father nearby, who had a car. They took Buddie to a doctor, probably Dr. Bland, where his thumb was removed at the knuckle as it was barely attached.
